wake me when i fall

pattern: Tern by Pam Allen
yarn: Louhittaren Luola Väinämöinen Sport, in colour Sahrami, 85g
needles: 3mm

I had no thicker socks, so I tested Väinämönen sport. Love it, love it, love it. The pattern was fun, but since toe-up isn't my favourite technique, sizing proved to be a bit challenging. In the end I did 4.5 repeats, which is way too much for me; the heel is somewhere near my ankle and I've already tripped twice on the extra in the toes. However, I'm not giving these away, because the yarn is so absolutely wonderful.

Depth over distance every time, my dear

pattern: Gladys by Melissa LaBarre
yarn: madelinetosh merino light, in colour Sugar Plum, held double 116g
needles: 3mm and 3.5mm

pattern: Alderman by Victoria Magnus
yarn: madelinetosh sport, in colour Rose, 40g
needles: 3.5mm

A long story short: Gladys, my new favourite hat pattern. Just gorgeous. Simply fantastic. Alderman looks nice. The cabling was a cakewalk but looks intricate enough. Had written instructions, boo for that. madelinetosh, as always, perfect. Tarzan and me likey.

My bones are like feathers, they quiver and quake

pattern: Rosiga vantar by Ann Linderhjelm
yarn: (from cuffs to tips)
Louhittaren Luolan Louhitar, in colour white
Madelinetosh Tosh Sport, in colour Dried Rose
Louhittaren Luolan Louhitar, in colour Metsä
Madelinetosh Tosh Sport, in colour Posy
The Uncommon Thread Merino DK, in colour Nimbostratus
Madelinetosh Tosh Sport, in colour Wheat
needles: 3mm

Some miscellaneous skeins and balls of sport and DK weight yarn have accumulated into my yarn stashes for reasons unknown, so I tried to at least diminish their combined weight in order to clear up some space for my new babies. The pattern itself produces quite sizeable mittens, but with a little felting they fit perfectly (well, they are still the size of outer mittens, but fit perfectly with another pair) and are really dense. These absolutely toasty warm and I love them!

Maybe next I'll do Simple Sprinkle to go with the mittens?

I like my new bunnysuit/ When I wear it I feel cute

pattern: winged it
yarn:  Isager Spinni, (doubled) in grey 160g and Isager Højlandsgarn, in rose 130g
needles: 6mm

Last birthday, my friend gave me two gorgeous skeins of Isager Highland wool in colour that resembled Finnish whipped lingonberry pudding (vispipuuro). The first idea was to use them for colourwork mittens but then the early autumn came and the acute shortage of slack sweaters hit me. What I wanted was a sweater so baggy and loose I could wrap it around me at least a couple of times. I succeeded, even though it looks somewhat fitted: I forgot to take a picture of me when the hem is thrown over my knees so that I'm cocooned inside the whole thing.

That's my old buddy in the picture, who was told to stay put behind the photographer, but who insisted on helping and ended up knocking me over and sitting on me feet.
