pattern: Stripe Tease by General Hogbuffer
yarn: Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball, Durch die Blume, 70g?
needles: two 2.25mm circulars and 2.25 DPNs
Cookie A and Alice Yu are truly great, but I must admit that General Hogbuffer's sock patterns are my absolute favourites. There's something saucy in the patterns, always a little twist, just like with the Puckers. The jest in these is to shut up the small cricket in your head and just trust the pattern, because there are some points where an overly zealous sock knitter might go "wait! there's still a couple sts left to pick, let me get those", which subsequently would end up messing a thing or two. Just go with the pattern, step by step. This pattern is made for Zauberball and since the whole sock is knitted in small, about 12 sts wide strips, the yarn starts striping awesomely and brings out the best in this Schoppel-Wolle yarn.
The heel is the cock-up point where you might go wrong if you start composing something that isn't in the pattern. The heel decs are done in the sole strip, making it narrow down as you go. Really nice looking heel, I think. All in all, definately a pattern I would do again, just with a different kind of Zauber!
Last but not least, here's what I bought from a soap shop in Tampere. Pieni Saippuakauppa on Tuomiokirkonkatu street sells all kinds of handmade soaps, most of which are completely articifial chem free and some of which are Fair Trade. We use bars of soap a lot because it reduces the amount of packing material - and truth to tell, because they look great too! Definately recommend this shop, great service and wonderful soaps!
